As a Senior Financial Analyst within the Finance team supporting TELUS Consumer Solutions (TCS), you will be an integral part of the $500 million per year TELUS Consumer Channel OPEX portfolio in all Financial Planning & Analysis requirements. At the core of your talents is your innate ability to communicate; you transform your in-depth financial analysis into a clear format that stakeholders understand! This role is a blend of traditional FP&A duties where we leverage defined workflows and processes (which of course you will play a big role in) but also plenty of exposure into ad-hoc projects into analytics, operations, commercial strategy, integration, and many more areas where you can make a huge impact and continually challenge yourself! Here’s how

  • Each day you will bring your A-game to the field of Finance
  • Driving optimal decision-making through insightful models and analytical tools; perform financial and quantitative analyses, including deep dives into Channel economics
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the strategies, business issues, risks and profitability opportunities of specific Channels
  • Own the monthly and annual rolling forecast model, monitoring results versus budget/ forecast, and providing thorough analysis and investigating variances, while identifying risks and opportunities. Enhance/leverage existing driver-based forecasting models to enhance our monthly and annual plans
  • Provide value-added analysis for month end Financial and KPI reporting aimed at determining the root cause of variance
  • Continuously work with Channel primes to ensure policy and control adherence, sufficiently mitigating financial & reporting risks to TELUS
  • Prepare and present organizational information and financial reports to Consumer team members and senior leadership including TELUS Consumer Channels SVP, VPs and Directors
  • Lead miscellaneous profitability / break-even analysis calculations measuring ROI, store-by-store valuations and present the findings to the senior leadership team to assist in strategic decision-making
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of our internal finance processes, tools, and analyses actively voicing sharing any opportunities for improvement you see, to better enable the team to support the organization
  • Develop effective business relationships with peers, the senior finance team and serve as OPEX prime to the business unit team

Qualifications

  • Recognized for your ability to synthesize all internal and external drivers (i.e. market, economics, operations etc.) that impact decision-making in order to provide holistic strategic recommendations
  • Known for your ability to effectively communicate complex financial analysis results and recommendations to our senior management team
  • Able to forge strong cross-functional working relationships and influence all levels in the organization with negotiation skills
  • With a knack for being proactive and organized with ability to manage multiple deliverables within a dynamic environment with a strong attention to detail
  • Recognized as a strong collaborative team player (strategic and creative thinker who always comes up with innovative ideas and solutions)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to scope out difficult tasks & projects, set objectives and goals, develop schedules, prioritize multiple activities, and anticipate roadblocks

Great-to-haves

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant analytical experience
  • Experience with month-end close work, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and controls monitoring & remediation
  • Accounting Designation (CPA/CA, CMA, CGA) preferred
  • Business Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or Engineering related degree
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office and Google Suite
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion is an asset
  • Telecom/IT and/or Retail Operations work experience considered an asset

Salary Range: $86,000-$130,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
