As Director, Public Policy & Government Relations for TELUS Health you’ll lead the strategy, planning and execution focusing on government relations, at both Federal and Provincial levels across multiple technology and healthcare delivery lines of business. You’ll engage with and manage relationships with a panoply of stakeholders including executive leaders, government, trade associations, civil society and academics. You will work closely with all parts of the organization to ensure advocacy efforts are cohesive and effective. Your energy, drive and resilience will get the job done and help create better health outcomes for all Canadians.

What you’ll do


Develop and execute TELUS Health public policy and government relations strategy including:

  • Undertaking a wide variety of creative tactics to deliver on TELUS Health’s priorities
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with political leaders, academics, civil society groups, trade associations, public servants and other stakeholders
  • Supporting TELUS Health’s public sector sales team and federal government relations
  • Leading the creation of reports, submissions, messages and collateral materials
  • Leading and training TELUS team members to support advocacy efforts
  • Reporting on progress to executives
  • Guide and support executives in developing their relationships with key government officials
  • Partner with public sector entities at all levels of government to advance shared priorities
  • Act as a strategic advisor and leader to TELUS Health’s executives

Play a lead role in the proactive monitoring of government activities, and third-party organizations, and ensure that TELUS Health is a visible and credible presence at various events and with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experienced government relations professional with a strong business development mindset
  • Demonstrated expertise in the pan-Canadian healthcare or health insurance ecosystem
  • Compelling combination of relationship-building capabilities, pertinent industry experience, and a nuanced understanding of political dynamics
  • A data-driven approach to public policy advocacy and campaigning
  • A talent for bringing people together and harnessing the collective energy to get things done
  • Exceptional common sense and judgement combined with an intrinsic ability to steadfastly navigate the ambiguous and uncharted
  • A relentless positivity and get-stuff-done approach
  • Extraordinary ability to craft clear and simple communications, and bring forward insights and recommendations to all levels of stakeholders

Great-to-haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a notable asset.
Salary Range: $128,000-$192,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 30%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
