The TELUS Community Giving team is seeking an experienced Senior Community Investment Manager, based in Vancouver BC, to support the TELUS Vancouver and Coastal Community Board and the overall success of the local Community Investment portfolio. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate citizenship strategy and social purpose, have strong business experience and acumen, deep knowledge of supporting executive-level boards and experience within or supporting the charitable sector. As part of our dynamic team you will report to the Manager, Community Investment who is responsible for creating and executing our Community Investment strategy across Canada.

Responsibilities

 

  • Represent TELUS to internal and external audiences from a community investment perspective
  • Play a leadership role in the progression of TELUS’ corporate citizenship strategy and social purpose.
  • Lead strategic giving including: 
    • Management of all activities associated with the successful operations of a TELUS Community Board including supporting board members, meetings and associated administrative functions; the sourcing of innovative granting projects; and supporting the local board succession planning process
    • Support and activate our regional funding strategy.
    • Activate local urgent, societal issues and humanitarian relief campaigns; and 
    • Partner with the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation
  • Attendance and support of TELUS charitable activities and events in the community when required
  • Seeing through the planning and managing of ad hoc projects and programs from original concept to final implementation, while driving improvements and efficiencies
  • Drive team engagement by managing the local execution of national initiatives such as TELUS Days of Giving, Team TELUS Cares campaigns and supporting the work of the TELUS Community Ambassadors
  • Support corporate led priorities including collaboration on philanthropic initiatives
  • Support business enablement including: 
    • Collaborate with the business units identifying new business development opportunities and sharing charitable sector expertise;
    • Support all philanthropic go to market activities including those of our regional marketing teams to identify partners for cause marketing initiatives and manage all associated charitable relationships; and;
    • Support corporate priorities including the project management of philanthropic initiatives
  • Collaborating effectively and efficiently across multiple disciplines, organizational boundaries and stakeholder groups
  • Delivering impactful, concise, and effective communications and presentations to all levels of the business both internally and externally

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

 

  • A superior “customers first” business orientation comfortable working with all levels within our organization to support a deadline driven and sophisticated audience at the organization’s senior levels, as well as with other key external and internal audiences
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic corporate philanthropy, employee engagement and corporate volunteerism, strong business acumen and understanding of the corporate environment and competitive landscape
  • Expert interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate at the executive and board level, create and deliver compelling presentations, facilitate effective meetings and write with purpose
  • Dynamic decision maker and problem solver with the ability to make decisions based on sound competitive, financial and community needs assessments while quickly adapting to changing environments
  • Strong project management skills, experience collaborating using G suite, and comfortable tackling the ambiguous
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team and to deliver results in deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work with a virtual team
  • Fluency in French language/bilingual is an asset

 

Required Experience and Education:

 

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field and/or 15 or more years relevant business and/or senior level not-for-profit experience
  • Previous experience working with a board of directors and senior leaders

 

Midpoint Base Salary:  $110,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:  15%

Actual total compensation can be above or below the listed pay, based on knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
