As a member of the Data & Trust Office and supported by the Director, Health Privacy, you will influence TELUS’ innovation in the health and wellbeing sector. You and your team will work cross-functionally on supporting the growth of the business along with the development, deployment, and use of new technologies. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to ensure that solutions not only comply with the privacy laws and regulations, but that best practices and innovative privacy approaches are in place to earn the trust of our customers. You will advocate for TELUS’ Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all our decisions around data, privacy and innovation recognizing the fundamental role that trust plays in TELUS’ mission.
You will ensure that all TELUS Health initiatives meet our rigorous privacy, security and ethical standards. You will collaborate with, advise and guide the business in addressing privacy and data considerations in a manner that demonstrates TELUS commitment to putting customers and their privacy first.
What you’ll do
• Lead a team that support the operational needs of health-focused data program, to deploy and leverage technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence) responsibly and ethically, in a manner that demonstrates TELUS’ commitment to putting customers and their privacy first, by providing expert advice and counsel to execute on TELUS’ data handling frameworks.
• Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure adherence to the TELUS Trust Model.
• Lead the design and documentation of processes that standardize best practices and support an agile development methodology.
• Evaluate and report on the performance of the program using established success metrics
• Lead advisory and training efforts for team members and business units on corporate data, privacy, ethical uses of data, and collaborate with strategic partners on privacy considerations and data governance matters
What you bring
• 5+ years of experience in applying best practices and privacy laws, including functional knowledge of health information legislation
• Skills as a compelling communicator, persuasive storyteller and a big thinker (strategic, critical and creative), effectively explaining data and privacy risks, initiative updates, etc. in writing, graphically and verbally, for multi-level audiences
• Recognized for your excellent interpersonal skills to build and foster teams and relationships across all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated track record of planning, defining, and delivering measurable outcomes for the business in a highly complex stakeholder environment
• Ability to protect the TELUS brand and act with a sense of urgency to efficiently assess the material impact of incidents and effectively mitigate risks.
• Highly adaptable self-starter who is comfortable working in a demanding and fast-paced environment, and dealing with ambiguity and complex concepts
• Understands modern information and data-processing technologies and their application in healthcare, particularly via the Internet
• Professional certification (or willing to become certified within 6 months)
Great-to-haves
● Demonstrated success as a people leader, with a proven track record of growing and developing engaged team members
● Project management and Agile experience
● Exposure to compliance regimes in other countries (e.g. US, EU, UK, Australia, etc.)
● Experience with the OneTrust compliance platform
● Legal background/experience
