The Home Solutions Market Intelligence team builds solutions for our stakeholders by understanding and turning data into insights to help drive the success of TELUS. We love to turn data into stories - stories about money falling through the cracks, success stories about our products and services, but most importantly stories about our customers and how we can enhance their experience.

You are a team player with a proven ability to translate technical considerations into business implications as well as to synthesize data into actionable insights. You are analytical and outcome-oriented with a fundamental understanding of data manipulation techniques and their value to strategy. You have experience with agile ways of working and a bias for action to break down barriers to get results fast with a test-and-learn mindset.

 

As a Business Consultant, you will be accountable for accelerating the capabilities of our Home Solutions Marketing Intelligence team. You will accomplish your objectives by working closely with Senior Business Analysts to creatively build reporting and analytical capabilities. The stakeholders you support will benefit from reporting and insights with a focus on reliability, accuracy, and timeliness to drive the right decisions for TELUS.

  • By providing timely and actionable reporting and insights to support decision-making across the organization
  • By implementing best in class, reporting insights (Dashboards) to drive operational efficiencies and improved decision-making
  • By driving the capabilities of the team to translate business questions and requirements into actionable insights and stories, not just data and reports
  • By working in conjunction with Sales, Finance, Marketing, and others to design innovative data visualizations and implement self-serve reporting tools such as Tableau and Domo, to deliver enhanced capabilities to end-users
  • By enabling business users and teams to leverage existing data infrastructure through customer reports and ad-hoc queries
  • By collaborating with our stakeholders, Business Intelligence team, and Business Transformation Operations (BTO) teams to provide requirements as part of our reporting capabilities roadmap
  • By providing expert technical guidance to analysts and other team members

 

 

Qualifications

 

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

 

  • You have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle (SQL) and experience working with relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of global best practices in business intelligence, performance reporting, and supporting tools such as Tableau, DOMO, SAS, Oracle, GCP, etc
  • Strong business acumen and financial / business case practices
  • Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with management and cross-functional teams
  • Strong presentation, analytical, and data interpretation skills
  • Expert ability to break down and decompose complex data sets and ambiguous problems to tell meaningful business stories
  • A university degree or college degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related experience
  • 5+ years of experience working with data, analytics, and, business performance reporting

 

Great-to-haves

 

  • Knowledge of telecommunications business models, measures, and metrics
  • Hands-on experience using Python
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) -> Big Query/Python
  • Experience with SAS -> Macros
  • Tableau/DOMO certifications
