Support the Real Estate & Finance team which is accountable for a national portfolio of approximately 450 locations. This team is responsible for managing our strategic retail real estate requirements in various enclosed malls, power centers and street front locations.
As a self-starter with strong negotiating and decision making skills you will work with various landlords and leasing directors to drive forward our real estate strategy. This role also provides analytics on the portfolio. Working with and supporting key internal stakeholders like Store Construction and Design, the team will play an integral role in developing our next generation stores and concepts.
Here's how…
- Oversee lease negotiation for renewals, acquisitions or disposition terms with landlords (financial & non-financial terms)
- Review and interpret legal documentation (Lease Amendments and Extension Agreements)
- Collaborate with business partners to present real estate transactions and recommendations at various committees and/or off-line to gain direction, alignment, and final approval
- Maintain our competitive edge in the marketplace and in negotiations by having gathered and analyze information on market conditions/rents and competing availabilities
- Build incredible and strong relationships across Canada within the retail leasing community
- Represent TELUS Retail Limited at various meetings/exhibits with tenants/brokers/agents
- Ensure leases are reviewed, analyzed, and interpreted for correct legal and operational terms
- Acts as the subject matter expert and central point of contact for the lease management function, issue resolution oversight and other related communications
Qualifications

- Ability to review and negotiate transactional language in leases or lease amending agreements
- Ability to work well in a team environment with a successful track record of collaboration with different Business Functions to achieve a single aim
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop highly effective business partner relationships and negotiations
- Strong analytical abilities and strategic thinking
- Advanced abilities in using Microsoft (MS) Office (specifically Excel & PowerPoint) as well as Google Suite (sheets/slides)
- Highly organized with an ability to and manage demanding volume workloads
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to interact and present to all levels of management and articulate concepts that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment
- University degree/college diploma
- 5-10 years in retail/commercial real estate leasing (landlord or tenant experience)
