TELUS Health is looking for a Learning Specialist II to provide advanced training for our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) deployments.
The selected candidates will be responsible for delivery and administration of the training programs required for EMR users. The training is specifically oriented toward, but not limited to, deployment of EMR systems for doctors and medical staff. Learning Specialists II must have the ability to lead small groups and maximize their learning experience with the applications chosen by customers, manage classes, and explain technical material to less skilled users. They are responsible for delivering various training content in a variety of different contexts, including individual meetings, group seminars and web-based training sessions.
The mission of a Learning Specialist II is to assist TELUS Health customers in maximizing adoption of their new clinical information system by first working with them to define workflows and best practices for their clinic via proven and effective change management methods. This approach enables them to identify and manage essential factors for clinicians working with an EMR system so that they can take full advantage of the technology.
Responsibilities:
- Understand existing clinical processes by performing a detailed assessment of the clinic’s current workflows, data collection procedures, details of the reports used by the clinic, and other issues related to its unique workflows, working in close collaboration with project team members and clinic superusers
- Adapt a training plan based on EMR-focused workflows
- Prepare for delivery of an effective training program (materials, examples, specific knowledge for a particular group, etc.)
- Train new customers with practical sessions using on-site or remote Web tools
- Ensure that customers are using the application at an appropriate level upon completion of the training
- Assist in the design and development of additional materials to support learning objectives
- Apply principles of instructional design as appropriate for adult learning in new, initial or periodic training sessions, or for personalized training
- Follow the training team’s processes, standards, templates and training styles
Qualifications
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bilingual (French/English, spoken and written)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, workshop leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience in presenting training materials, both in person and virtually
- Independent and goal-oriented
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, organization and time management skills
- Empathetic and able to adapt to diverse customer groups
- Able to positively and effectively manage the change associated with adoption of a new tool by our customers, using a consulting approach.
- Enjoy using technology on a daily basis (Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, etc.)
- Must have a home office and be able to travel occasionally within Quebec (+/- 10%)
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the role, or relevant work experience
- General knowledge of the health care system (RAMQ, role and daily routines of clinical staff, patient journey, etc.) is an asset
- Experience with a certified EMR system is an asset
