Description

TELUS has an opportunity to grow the Connected Home team with an experienced UX Researcher to support the execution of our next-generation Smart Home roadmap with evaluative studies.

What you’ll do:

As our UX Researcher, you'll have the exciting opportunity to establish our UX research process and work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure that our products are attractive, meaningful, useful and accessible.

To succeed in this role you must have a collaborative and iterative mindset. The UX Researcher must be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the business, sharing work in progress to gather early feedback, and iterating research and design processes to drive shared outcomes. This is not a role in which the UX Researcher will succeed as a single contributor making recommendations; this is a collaborative role with which research informs design and development deliverables, and the UX Researcher works closely with delivery teams day-to-day.

Here’s how you’ll be successful:

  • Establish methodologies to quantitatively and qualitatively learn about our users
  • Provide informed input and feedback toward design initiatives
  • Develop a deep understanding of our user personas and lead initiatives targeting specific user segments.
  • Work with UX Design through UI experimentation, speaking on behalf of our users and their various personas.
  • Instruct development priorities in data acquisition that will help gather data intelligence, working as part of the Agile delivery team
  • Track user experience metrics and analytics, including reporting on the success of UX improvements
  • Keep up to date with our industry's best practices and the experiences consumers have with our competitors

Qualifications

What you bring:

You are likely in a similar UX Research or Customer Experience Research role and have many of the following abilities and experience points

  • 5+ years of professional and/or academic UX researching experience
  • Working knowledge of web/product analysis tools such as Adobe Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics
  • Advanced skills in qualitative research with the ability to lead UX research projects
  • Ability and will to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Statistics, Information Technology or a related field; advanced degree preferred

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of UX software tools such as Figma
  • Experience in the technology and/or consumer services industry; experience in smart home is a plus
