What We’ll Accomplish Together
In the role of Physician Assistant at this remote mining site in Northern Canada, you will work within the Occupational Health Clinic to provide care to a diverse worker population, within a team that is passionate about wellbeing and safety.
What You’ll Do
- Provide urgent and emergency care to all patients seeking care in the clinic, within the scope of the medical directives, under remote direction of the Medical Director
- Provide occupational health services, to include spirometry, audiometry, ECG, vision testing and more as part of the medical surveillance program
- Record all patient encounters and document appropriately using the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Communicate with onsite and offsite personnel to ensure appropriate patient care and safe return to work
- Report workplace injuries according to the client’s internal policies, and to the appropriate territorial/provincial bodies as required
- Participate in the development and delivery of health educations and wellness campaigns
- Collaborate with client management and the broader TELUS team to drive improvements towards best practice and better health outcomes
Qualifications
What You Bring:
- Graduate of PACCC approved PA program, or ARCPA approved program
- Currently registered and in good standing with CAPA
- Professional liability insurance
- Current ACLS
- Current ATLS or ITLSAdvanced
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Recent experience seeing undifferentiated patients in either primary, urgent or emergency care settings
- Experience/certification in Audiometric testing
- Experience/certification in Spirometry testing
- Trained in Drug and Alcohol collection (urine, oral fluid, and breath alcohol)
- Experience with Occupational Health activities including
- Pre-employment and periodic medicals
- Fitness for work assessment
- Occupational injury reporting and classification
- Experience organizing/coordinating medical evacuations
- Experience in use of EMR an asset
- Training in use of ultrasound an asset
