As the Data Governance Manager, you will significantly influence the ongoing development and roll-out of TELUS’ Data Governance program. You will work in a cross-functional group to champion a unified data governance platform across the organization. Your contributions will play a crucial role in our commitment to ethically leverage data while navigating challenges at the intersection of privacy, ethics, technology, and data.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Steer the successful execution of a data governance roadmap, overseeing its conceptualization, implementation, monitoring, and continuous enhancement
  • Foster the advancement of data governance at TELUS by curating tailored training modules for critical audiences, providing supportive resources for Data Stewards, and orchestrating agile methodologies for data empowerment processes
  • Ensure a successful deployment of the data governance framework by effectively navigating conflicting priorities, efficiently utilizing resources, addressing interdependencies, managing risks, planning for contingencies, and handling scope adjustments
  • Design optimal practices for data governance, taxonomy, and asset cataloguing that align with our business strategy and data-oriented technology blueprint
  • Join forces with stakeholders to guarantee that the technical design, structural blueprint, and development of data governance tools and technologies gain widespread acceptance
  • Encourage stakeholder involvement in TELUS data-oriented programs
  • Create and deploy industry-leading processes to aid diverse roles within TELUS' Data Governance Framework
  • Aid in program metrics, including the tracking of success indicators and establishing effective communication channels with key stakeholders

 

What you bring:

 

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data governance program delivery and development
  • Proven experience in leading or supporting technological program development
  • Exceptional communication skills to align with teams across various business areas and influence senior-level audiences
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into clear, concise business cases and structured projects/programs
  • Proficient in identifying and proactively considering opportunities to resolve problems and address gaps
  • Expertise in data governance technology, business process modeling, and the implementation of data governance tools (OneTrust and Collibra preferred)
  • High adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (G-Suite), Microsoft Office, and other TELUS collaboration tools
  • University degree required
  • Experience in public-facing roles with a customer service element
  • Demonstrable knowledge of privacy or data governance concepts

 

Great-to-haves:

 

  • Creative mindset
  • Experience working in a large, matrixed organization
  • Certifications such as DCAM, DAMA, CIPP/C, Privacy by Design Certification
