The Role: Design Engineer - Drive System
Who are you?
As a Design Engineer, Drive Systems, you will support the development and design of Svante’s Rotary Adsorbent Machine (RAM) drivetrain systems, sub-systems, and components from conceptual design through implementation. You will report to the Drive Systems Technical Lead and will collaborate with other sub-system engineering teams, including structures, process, manufacturing, and the field service team to deliver reliable solutions for Svante’s first commercial CCUS products.
You will work with Supply Chain to manage suppliers of components and sub-system machine parts related to the drivetrain system as well as manage the sub-system build, integration, and testing at the machine manufacturers site (Factory Acceptance Tests).
Required Skills and Qualifications
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- You have minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- You have minimum 2 years of 3D CAD experience.
- You have an excellent grasp of first principles in mechanical engineering.
- You have experience of advancing technology from an immature to advanced state.
Bonus Skills and Qualifications
- You have extensive knowledge regarding Gearbox design, railway system design, large scale powertrain systems.
- You have strong fundamentals in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFM/A).
- You can assist in creating service documentation, and in coordination with Svante Service Engineering train customer service personnel and support any in-service machine issues.
What Success looks like in this role
- You will assist in defining and designing components through engineering analysis, testing, and collaboration with adjacent system leads to meet the product requirements.
- You will create 3D models of components and assemblies in PTC Creo, generate manufacturing drawings and documentation, and work with qualified fabrication partners/suppliers to deliver drivetrain components to RAM projects and Svante customers.
- You will be directly involved in system and component testing and qualification. You will assist in identifying required testing, drafting test requests, and establishing evaluation criteria.
- You will develop areas of key technical competency required for Svante drivetrain systems.
- You will identify and explore new drivetrain architectures and solutions.
- You will substantiate new design ideas with hand calcs, FEA, and sound engineering judgement.
- You will design components and sub-systems in PTC Creo using Aras PLM.
