Job Description Summary

Are you looking to gain valuable laboratory skills and experience in a fast-paced biotech research environment? We are looking for a Part-Time Research Associate who can support our Research & Development (R&D) department over the weekends. If you're seeking a weekend work schedule, experience feeding and maintaining cell cultures, and an opportunity to gain experience in biotech, this may be the job for you!

In this position, you will be responsible for supporting researchers working on the development, testing, and analysis of cell culture media that control cell differentiation. The work will be highly collaborative and team-based, and involves organizing and communicating with a diverse group of R&D users.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing cell culture maintenance of primary human cells and human pluripotent stem cells, and supporting in house testings and experiments

  • Collaborating with multiple team members to organize and schedule experiments and tasks, communicate progress and updates with team members, and support quality initiatives and lab operations

  • Perform any necessary laboratory calculations independently

  • Mandatory weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) will be required

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • BSc (in progress or completed) in Biology or related field and relevant co-op training, directed studies, or equivalent

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture techniques required. Training in cellular and molecular biology techniques including qPCR, immunocytochemistry, or microscopy would be an asset

  • Highly organized and able to manage time effectively

  • Experience performing independent laboratory research, and coordinating with and supporting multiple collaborators

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings
