Job Description Summary

Are you a Mechanical Engineer looking for the next step in your career? STEMCELL, Canada’s largest biotech company, is looking for a new Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing team!

In this role, you will be the liaison between senior engineers, internal Project Managers, and third party design, engineering, and construction consultants to ensure that mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection) are designed and installed to meet various end user requirements pertaining to lab and manufacturing functions.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support Facilities Projects in the development of mechanical and building systems designs

  • Vet, help define, and articulate various STEMCELL user group mechanical requirements

  • Collaborate with external engineers in the development of mechanical solutions that satisfy user group requirements

  • Conduct quality control of mechanical and related systems throughout construction and commissioning

  • Review and comment on construction documents and contractor submittals

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (EIT Designation or eligible with EGBC is a plus)

  • 1-3 years working at a consulting engineering firm or similar experience

  • Excellent knowledge of CAD modeling such as Revit, AutoCAD, and/or bluebeam

  • Experience in working with design and building codes such as: ASHRAE, NFPA, BCBC, GMP and ISPE standards

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, construction/commissioning process, and code reviews
