Reporting to the Accounting AP Manager, the main responsibilities involved in this role will include the full cycle of accounts payable, handling reconciliations, employee and vendor queries, payment processing, vendor accruals and forecasting. In addition, this position will also be responsible for general ledger entries as well as preparing, analyzing and fulfilling various reports for external and/or internal requirements.
Role and Responsibilities
- Approve, process and pay high-volume vendor invoices & expense reports in a timely manner ensuring backups and G/L codes are correct, performing duplication checks, ensuring expenditures and approvals comply with company policies and procedures. Collaborate with submitter to resolve discrepancies.
- Setup and maintain vendor master data and vendor banking details after approval of registration request.
- Prevent fraud by performing verbal verification of vendor banking details. Communicate with high-ranking principals of vendor partners (CFO, CEO, Controllers, etc.) in strictly professional and skillful manner.
- Ensure tax compliance, detect and post provincial sales tax (PST) self-assessments. As tax registrants of BC, MB, and SK provincial governments, Samsung Electronics Canada (SECA) must remit these taxes to mitigate tax exposures.
- Monitor uncashed cheques, process stop payments, reverse payments, and reissue payments.
- Analyze and submit payouts forecast to Treasury team on monthly and as-needed basis.
- Analyze, prepare and submit uploads or journal entries for bi-weekly, monthly, or as-needed accruals
- Analyze and fulfill weekly and monthly FSCS risk items reports of high volume, clear open items in suspense or temporary holding G/Ls or internal accounts.
- Assist Accounting manager with audits, answer queries, generate reports or fulfill test sampling requests by internal or external auditors; prepare and submit original receipt evidences to HQ for semi-annual Korea VAT audit.
- Manage AP balance confirmations to fulfill annual FHC HQ report.
- Uphold AP Policy and contribute to its enhancement and improvement.
- Train and guide employees on expense systems and vendor invoice systems through group sessions or one-on-one coaching.
- Perform adjusting journal entries of G/L accounts or cost centers as needed.
- Perform timely month-end closing by approving/rejecting all parked documents, posting vendor accruals, running warranty provision execution, posting chargebacks by clearing affiliate expenses
Skills and Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Knowledge:
- Experience with ERP system is an asset
- Computer skills in MS office environment, primarily excel
Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience preferred
Competencies:
- Positive attitude, good attention to detail and accuracy working with numbers
- Professional ethic, quality oriented and ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Ability to respond with professionalism and candor to Vendors with their inquiries
- Excellent computer skills in an MS Office environment, primarily Excel
