The Global Trade Compliance team is a vital pillar within lululemon’s supply chain, dedicated to upholding and enforcing compliance with international trade laws and regulations. a day in the life:
As the Global Trade Compliance Lead, your role centers around championing the execution of trade compliance workflows with a focus on tariff classification, duty management, origin determination, and preferential trade programs. Collaborating with both internal teams and external partners, your work revolves around ensuring the accurate execution of lululemon's trade initiatives. Your responsibilities span duty optimization projects, enhancements to trade systems, and harnessing the capabilities of our global trade management platform (GTMP) to its full extent. Your influence will extend across the organization, fostering relationships with both upstream and downstream partners.
Serve as a subject matter expert in product classification, trade data management, global Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), origin determination, and trade systems.
Support trade compliance audits, ensuring adherence to customs regulations, trade laws, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with departments like Sourcing, Product Development, and Materials to educate on tariff classification, potential duty-saving opportunities, and trade compliance.
Assist in tariff classification of apparel products.
Assist in soliciting, qualifying, and verifying Free Trade Agreement (FTA) programs while maintaining required recordkeeping.
Leverage expertise in our global trade management platform (GTMP) for efficient data management, audits, information flow, system enhancements, and upgrades.
Contribute to Trade Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide essential reporting for business teams.
Enhance and document trade procedures through process efficiency identification.
Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various trade processes.
Act as a technical resource for the trade team, providing necessary support.
qualifications:
5-8 years of experience in international trade, preferably within the apparel/textiles sector within a retail organization or brokerage/consulting firm.
Expertise in textile classification, tariff engineering, and a comprehensive understanding of free trade agreements and other duty reduction opportunities.
Strong analytical and investigative skills, with a high degree of curiosity.
Proven work ethic and a resolute desire to achieve excellence and succeed.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and projects, demonstrating strong leadership and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, showcasing advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with a strong familiarity with Global Trade Management Platforms (GTMP).
