The Global Infrastructure and Cloud team is a world-class delivery group that builds and maintains the underpinnings of lululemon’s technology environment. A day in the life

As a Staff Engineer, you will work as a technical engineering lead for lululemon’s Global Network team. You will be counted on as an expert in your technology space as you contribute to all areas of development and operations (pre-production to production). You will spend a fair amount of time planning the evolution of the tools and systems in network infrastructure, guiding your team’s roadmap year to year, and leading and enrolling others. You will contribute heavily to our Engineering principles by maintaining the practical "how we do it" documentation, and by partnering with Senior Leadership and Principal Engineers to lead a Community of Practice aimed at increasing Engineer training and development for your technology area. Staff Engineers work to elevate our engineering community by designing/introducing tools and systems that accelerate and support our engineering best practices.

Foundationally, this person must thrive in fast-paced environments, be able to manage through ambiguity and complexity, invent and simplify processes, and simultaneously support multiple projects that impact a growing global organization. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to identify and eliminate bottlenecks, provide escalation to management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. Maturity, curiosity, creative problem solving, initiative, and team leadership are all essential to success.

For this specific role, we are looking for an experienced engineer that will define the architecture and influence the solution and business strategy to build a cost-effective network control and data plane. This architecture is the core of a multi cloud network backbone that supports all of our application teams. The role will lead the engineering of platforms that enable high scale internal teams to securely use the high performance and scalable lululemon Cloud network.

In this critical role you will work closely with application and engineering teams to define and implement the next generation of lululemon Cloud network infrastructure in collaboration with Senior Leadership and Principal Engineers. Additionally, working as a lead, you will at times guide and coordinate others and provide communication to Leadership.

Role Highlights:

  • Contribute to the development of new solutioning principles and concepts; that support multiple teams.
  • Integrates broad working knowledge in related disciplines to create integrated engineering solutions for complex business situations -Enrollment, Influence and adoption.
  • Lead various efforts by engaging and allocating work to other Engineers, as well as providing updates to Leadership.
  • Serve as a lead engineering resource on the global network infrastructure team, dealing with challenging engineering problems and opportunities.
  • Influence decisions that impact critical long term Technology strategy for organizational success
  • Provide thought leadership in the cloud networking domain to ensure that systems and services are designed and operating to achieve optimal levels of performance, reliability, security, and sustainability.
  • Demonstrates ability to coach team members around best practices for delivering highly performant and scalable solutions for the cloud network.
  • Ensures security practices and/or security system fundamentals are defined and shared across multiple teams, and mentors others on these practices.
  • Provides leadership and subject matter expertise to identify solutions for network security gaps and challenges.


  • Expert knowledge in cloud networking and cloud native toolsets.
  • Leadership experience in network fundamentals (BGP, IPv4/IPv6, IPS/IDS, DDoS protection) and cloud network protection.
  • Demonstrated direct work experience across a variety of Cloud Network disciplines to support a strong foundational knowledge of technology best practices and regulatory processes.
  • Experience in building and protecting large scale networks (5000+ hosts).
  • Intermediate knowledge of at least one Infrastructure-as-a-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Experience building and securing high availability applications using cloud native tools (Load balancers, Route 53, WAF, etc.)
  • Experience working through various Cloud architectures (preference for AWS) to influence solution to solve customer problems.
  • Takes ownership and follows through on tasks; drives decisions; results-oriented and able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to manage and lead vendors, engineers, and stakeholders.
