Store Design is responsible for the architectural and store design of all North American stores for lululemon, delivering on the company’s strategic growth plans through the best in retail design and the brand’s pinnacle expression: the physical retail channels. Through creativity, focus, and clarity, we support the business ambitions and enhance guest experience while delivering consistent design queues to reinforce a strong experiential brand identity.
job summary
  • Ownership of multiple Store Design projects across various divisions within Alternate Retail Channels.
  • Creation of new design elements as required for multiple disciplines such as ideal layouts, merchandising strategy, fixture and signage design, development and rollout.
  • Create store specific design layouts, decks for coordination with construction, visual merchandising, operations, strategic sales partners.
  • Manage design presentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor partnerships with external consultants.
key responsibilities & duties
  • Responsible for the creation and iteration of Retail Environmental Design projects that seek to address alternate retail channels in physical retail environments to support existing and new guests.
  • Manage multiple projects with varying scales of executions including retail design, temporary installations, signage / fixture design and development, and unique experiences.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving to innovate new design standards, 3 dimensional environments, layouts and fixtures specific to Alternate Retail Channels.
  • Taking strategic directives, execute design direction, create visual communications, and prototypes that represent the Store Design.
  • Through collaboration with cross-functional partners, work through the innovation process from opportunity identification, concept development, to roll-out and scale of new retail design strategies and concepts.
  • Engage with cross-functional partners to evaluate opportunities to develop and improve guest experience, display standards and brand storytelling.
  • Assist with the development of key FF&E standards that align with lululemon and Store Design Vision to enable scalable roll-out options for Store Design.
  • Execute and roll out design strategies aligned on with leadership under direction Senior Design Manager to cross-functional stakeholders and external partners, vendors and clients.
  • Lead enrollment with cross-functional stakeholders to reach alignment on objectives, expectations for execution.
  • Produce new retail design concept documentation for integration into scalable roll-out format.
qualifications
  • 7 - 10 years of experience as a designer in the following areas: Retail or multi-disciplinary design/architectural practice.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Suite (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and rendering programs is required.
  • Demonstrated work experience in design, design thinking, and innovation practices.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, design focused, problem solution seeker.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of design tools, presentation, and communications techniques.
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and complexity.
  • Exceptional organization and analytical skills with different sources of data.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable presenting to a large room and have an ability to rapidly absorb business process knowledge.
  • B.S. or B.A. in Interior, Architectural Design, Industrial Design.
