Kardium is developing a ground breaking medical device for the minimally-invasive diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, a heart condition that can cause strokes, heart failure, and other heart-related complications.
\nKardium has a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market: The Globe® Pulsed Field System. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.
\nAs the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that result in an effective environmental health and safety program, and provide a safe working environment for all Kardium employees and guests.
\nPlease note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.
\nWhat you’ll be doing
\nYour responsibilities will include:
\n- \n
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to the health and safety and the environment \n
- Drive implementation and maintenance of all health and safety and environmental policies and procedures \n
- Maintain all environmental and health and safety files and records and ensure all necessary permits are current and up to date \n
- Participate in environmental and health and safety audits and act as the main point of contact for applicable external agencies \n
- Manage facility safety by conducting monthly facility inspections and regular area risk assessments to detect health and safety hazards, determine appropriate corrective and preventive actions, and ensure all identified measures have been implemented \n
- Implement a level of review and testing necessary to ensure that Kardium’s storage, handling and use of chemicals are maintained in compliance with all applicable regulations \n
- Ensure information systems for chemical management and safety are maintained up to date \n
- Coordinate with appropriate internal stakeholders to ensure all manufacturing work instructions contain necessary health and safety and environmental requirements \n
- Generate training materials and ensure all employees receive adequate environmental and safety related training \n
- Ensure employee training records are properly documented and maintained up to date \n
- Lead investigation of all workplace environmental and safety incidents, compile and submit all necessary incident reports and drive implementation of corrective and preventative measures \n
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve health and safety at Kardium \n

\nYou are suited to our approach and possess these attributes:

- Bachelor’s degree with preference to candidates with a chemistry background \n
- Minimum 5 years health and safety management experience in a complex manufacturing environment \n
- Good working knowledge of applicable OH&S regulations and standards \n
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment such as ISO 13485 or AS9100 is an asset \n
- Proven track record implementing environmental and safety management related programs and initiatives \n
- Experience implementing continuous improvement projects \n
- Highly analytic and data driven with the ability to organize data to drive conclusions and actions \n
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to grow relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization \n
- Flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as required \n
Compensation
\nKardium has listed the total cash compensation range that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more experience than listed above, the pay range will be higher.
