\nYour opportunity
\nBy joining the Kardium team, you can help make a difference in the lives of millions around the world. We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications.
\nKardium has a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market: The Globe® Pulsed Field System. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.
\nWe are excited to add a Mechanical Designer to our team. In this role you will improve the current product design, improve, and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment, and design novel medical devices. Your hands-on approach to prototyping, creativity, mechanical detail design skills, and theory-based analytical skills will allow you to succeed as a Mechanical Designer at Kardium. An essential trait of the successful candidate is the ability to transform concepts to final designs.
\nWhat you’ll be doing
\nYour responsibilities will include:
\n- \n
- Collecting and clarifying design input requirements for mechanical design projects \n
- Brainstorming and concept evaluation activities: using your hands-on skills to build proof of concept models to evaluate design ideas quickly and efficiently \n
- Transforming concepts into working prototypes using in-house manufacturing capabilities for bench-top and in-vivo testing \n
- Designing and building machinery and jigs for Kardium's on-site manufacturing plant \n
- Ensuring a smooth transition of design to manufacturing by supporting risk management, regulatory affairs, verification testing, and training of manufacturing staff \n
- Creation and maintenance of engineering design documentation including engineering drawings, work or maintenance instructions, and test reports \n
- Travelling occasionally within and outside North America \n
What you bring to the team
\nOur Kardium team is smart, creative, and passionate about developing cutting-edge medical devices to help improve people’s lives. We work in a collaborative environment based on trust and respect. We understand that only by working together can we solve what was thought unsolvable.
\nYou are suited to our approach and possess these attributes:
\n- \n
- A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, coupled with previous practical engineering experience in a product development environment \n
- Ideally, prior engineering experience in bringing a product to market with high volumes and developing design and testing requirements of medical devices \n
- Previous on-the-job experience with precision mechanics and a high level of familiarity with machine shop tools, and parametric modelling software (Solidworks) \n
- Exposure to different manufacturing techniques \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills \n
- The ability to effectively manage changing priorities and requirements \n
Why work at Kardium
\nA meaningful career working with a truly innovative technology and an ambitious team, combined with:
\n- \n
- Knowing every day that you are making a difference in people’s lives by helping treat a condition that debilitates millions worldwide \n
- A great working environment with opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge \n
- Opportunity to extend your knowledge by interacting with other team members in a multi-disciplinary environment that includes electrical and mechanical engineers, biologists, and specialists in human factors, and clinical and regulatory affairs \n
- An engaged leadership team who believes in mentoring and growing employees’ careers \n
- Supportive and fun colleagues with plenty of social events to encourage people connections \n
- And our employees think we are great too – check out Glassdoor to learn more! \n
Thanks in advance for your interest in Kardium!
