Your Role and Responsibilities
This position resides in Markham, ON and is a 16 month work-term commencing in May 2024. It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full0time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work-term.
The IBM Security development team works on leading-edge products and solutions to help organizations analyze their data environment to make sound decisions to ensure regulatory compliance and improve their data security.
The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for developing software using the latest web technologies as demonstrated by their contribution to open-source projects, experimenting with new technologies and development of their own hobby applications. They should also have a keen interest in researching the latest data security trends and regulations and a broad understanding of cybersecurity attacks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Hands-on experience with at least three programming languages, such as C/C++, Java, Golang, NodeJS,
- Knowledge of designing and implementing solutions based on microservices methodologies.
- Experience with Restful APIs.
- Academic solid foundation in Computer Science or related fields: Data structures, algorithms, networking
- Strong communication skills and ability to convey ideas and opinions to others.
- Must be eligible to work 16 months starting in May
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Familiar with protocols such as GRPC
- Experience with design and optimization of traditional and modern data stores/services, e.g., RDBMS, HDFS, NoSQL, and Cloud Object Stores
- Experience in enterprise-related development (multi-threading, scalability, performance)
- Experience with automated infrastructure configurations and orchestration, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tools, e.g., Jenkins, Travis
- Experience with agile methodologies
- Registered in a formal co-op/internship program
