Position Overview

You’re a collaborative and driven leader with a passion for creating engaging workplaces where Generation Operations employees can thrive and further develop their skills and expertise. Your understanding of why safety is paramount to every aspect of our operations upholds the core of our business priorities.

Reporting to the Director, Generation and System Operations, as the Regional Manager, Generation Operations, you’ll create engaging plans focused on Generation asset availability and safety, which meet technical requirements and keep the needs of our customers, employees, and stakeholders top of mind.

If you’re a strategic visionary who brings fresh ideas and invites diverse perspectives, join us in growing our energy future.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership, management, and oversight for Generation Operations to meet departmental and organizational goals, while putting safety at the forefront.
  • Lead the delivery of our business priorities with a customer and stakeholder-centric approach, ensuring the reliability and availability of Generation assets.
  • Promote, enhance, and maintain our safety culture through employee engagement and collaboration with support groups, while strengthening relationships with key safety stakeholders.
  • Motivate and develop the skilled groups who report to you; this includes teams from Generation Plants, the Brilliant Generating Station (BRD) Operations, 3rd Party Operations, and Generation Compliance.
  • Create positive, engaging work environments for employees and understand and respect collective agreements.
  • Actively monitor Generation resources to identify opportunities to optimize and improve them, using an innovative and open mindset.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, and 10 years or more experience in an electrical, mechanical, or operational engineering environment or the equivalent demonstrated experience in Generation Operations leadership.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, showing your demonstrated engineering knowledge, experience, high standards, and interest in acting responsibly in situations.
  • Experienced in project management and planning, risk management planning, employee development planning, and strategic business planning.
  • Exceptional leadership, with a continuous improvement and growth mindset.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
