Position Overview
You possess experience and wisdom beyond your years in electrical and mechanical engineering and are ready to lead our Generation Team for a major utility delivering energy to millions of British Columbians. You know how to unlock the potential of your colleagues through coaching and professional development and leverage collaboration to ensure resource planning encompasses a holistic approach from technical teams, project management, and operations. We need someone like you to join us as our Chief Engineer, Generation.
In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership for Generation Operations by providing risk-informed recommendations on projects and maintenance needs based on information from your technical teams.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the Generation 2025 to 2029 Multi-Year Rate Plan application to a successful outcome to meet the requirements of operations, maintenance and capital.
- Ensure collaboration and integration of technical requirements and support into Operations.
- Develop succession and development plans for direct reports.
- Craft a resource plan for the Generation Technical and PMO group in collaboration with the Regional Manager, Generation.
What it takes:
- A Professional Engineer designation plus 10 or more years of electrical or mechanical engineer experience.
- Regulatory, planning, asset management, and project management experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability and interest in seeking input and ensuring stakeholder involvement to meet Generation and organizational goals.
- Exceptional leadership skills to motivate team members, effectively engage technical teams, and continually challenge and develop the team.
- Accomplished problem-solving skills with an innovative approach to respond to various technical issues in Generation operations and integrate new solutions.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
