We are currently growing our Engineering team and searching for an experienced Chemical Process Engineer. Working under the Director of Engineering, you will research, design, and develop chemical processes and equipment for manufacturing scale up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process for solvent recovery and distillation.
  • Liaise with all levels of government to understand requirements and ensure compliance with respect to environmental discharge levels.
  • Gather equipment specifications, source equipment, and select vendor.
  • Perform process simulations, design calculations, process optimization, sizing and selection of equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Commission new equipment and processes, including creating commissioning plan and testing new equipment.
  • Write and maintain documentation for equipment (operating procedures, maintenance procedures).
  • Ensure qualification of changes to existing equipment and processes.
  • Recommend and implement changes to improve efficiency, yield, capacity, and cost.
  • Work with various departments, such as R&D, Model Plant, and Quality, to develop robust production processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution as recognized by EGBC.
  • Registered as a P.Eng with EGBC or another Canadian province.
  • Experience with chemical or process engineering in an industrial setting.
  • 2+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Initiative and organizational skills to work independently, as required.
  • Proven ability to identify, evaluate, and solve problems.
  • This position will require some travel; 3-4 trips per year up to 2 weeks per trip.

Note: This position will be working on-site during the training period with future opportunity to work from home from time to time.
