Corvus is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Modular Battery Equipment design team. This position will be responsible for designing components within our industry-leading ESS products, and collaborate closely with a talented, experienced, team of engineers from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. Qualified applicants will be comfortable in a design role and also with the hands-on work necessary to integrate and verify their designs. This is a full-time, permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with other engineering disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, as well as working with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project Management
- Build upon and improve existing battery module, module stack, module stacking and/or module rack designs.
- Responsible for some combination of:
- Design of metal parts (sheet metal, stamped and/or cast parts)
- Design of Liquid cooling plate and coolant loop
- Design of mechanical assemblies
- Design and build prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures to prove out concepts and determine performance or feasibility of designs. Perform the tests, record and present the results.
- Provide design services for new and upcoming products: Example: Packaging design, Strength Analysis, Thermal management designs.
- Work with our vendors and manufacturing group to optimize designs for production and assembly (DFM & DFA).
- Work well as an individual with minimal supervision or as part of a small agile multi-disciplinary design team.
- Other duties as required.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a product development/manufacturing company
- Proficient at SolidWorks and 3D CAD Software
- Hands-on experience building prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures.
- Familiarity with mass manufacturing technologies and heat management techniques will be an asset.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures.
- Experience in the following: FEA analysis, DFMEAs, PDM and volume manufacturing

- Detail-oriented personality type, self-starter, structured, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
- Process-oriented, efficient, and resourceful, with close attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Drive and flexibility to fit in with a growing company.
Salary Range: $78,000 to $89,960 CDN per year
