Department Overview

Motorola Solutions’ Video Security & Access Control Division is reinventing enterprise video security and access control by applying state-of-the-art deep-learning and AI technology to turn video into a rich source of insight. We are proud to be industry leaders in video analytics with features such as Appearance Search and Unusual Activity Detection along with our innovative cloud service platform.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize and design electronic enclosures for both indoor and outdoor environments
• Must have experience in designing for Injection Molding, Die Cast, Extrusions, Machining, and other manufacturing processes for medium to high volume products
• Previous work experience with camera products and/or working with lenses and optical elements is an asset
• Perform mechanical strength and tolerance analysis using FEM and other tools
• Perform thermal simulations using CFD tools in CAD
• Design and perform testing of physical integrity at parts and system level
• Use DFM and DFA tools to ensure design goals are met
• Evaluates and recommends changes to designs and find the most effective solution
• Ability to not only work as an individual contributor but also lead a project (or a part of it) and work in a team environment
• Reviews drawings and designs of peers to ensure standards of quality and accuracy are met
• Justify design decisions with calculations, analysis, and written documentation
• Provides mentorship and coaching to junior designers
• Estimating and tracking of time and costs related to all of the responsibilities above
• Ensuring product designs comply with regulatory agency requirements
• Work closely with Product and Project Management to specify, develop and implement successful designs
• Work closely with the manufacturing teams to ensure proper transfer of product from Engineering to Production

Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree
• 10+ year’s minimum relevant experience.
• Proficient in the use of SolidWorks.
• Proven experience in material and manufacturing process selection for parts.
• Proven experience in designing products for mass production.
• Strong interpersonal and motivational skills to work well within a team environment and liaise with internal clients.
• Experience in designing products for outdoor use including IP66, 67,and 68 ratings as well as elevated and below freezing temperatures.
• Experience with designing thermal solutions for embedded, outdoor products
• Familiar with regulatory agency requirements.
